I heard from a couple differemt people that technically we can subtract half of Greek Yogurt carbs because of the good bacteria in there that doesn’t get digested. Is this true?? Fagé 5% is what I eat but I count all thr carbs just to be safe, but would love to know the scientific answer! Thanks Ginger!
Of course because I’m looking for it, I can’t find it, but there were a couple of articles written by nutritionists that talked about halving the carb count for Greek yogurt that had "live & active" cultures in it. The specification was that it has to list both words in order to qualify. Live is just the good bacteria, but the active cultures are supposed to be what eats the sugar to the point where it’s about half by the time it reaches your table. Until I read the articles, I had no idea that there was a difference, but in the US, there’s even a Live & active "seal" on some containers. Once I started reading labels, I was surprised that some yogurts only contain cultured milk. Regardless of halving or not, I actually prefer those with the live and active cultures like Fage or Nancy’s for flavor, texture and gut health and a half cup is only 3.5g of (actual) carbs for the one I buy. Thanks for the video!!
This weekend I bought Lancashire Farm Greek Style yogurt, it is delicious! BUT it is 6 g of carbs per 100 g, I am so annoyed because it is £150 for a kilo and tastes amazing. I have not started keto yet but I am looking into it.
Regular unflavored Greek Gods yogurt has 15g sugars per cup! Wayyy over the limit if you ask me if trying to keep under 20g per day. After adding berries or nuts or seeds youre probably at 20g minimum right there.
I had eaten regular full fat yogurt but then stopped because I wasn’t too sure if we were "allowed" to have it. Now, I will go out and look for the Fage Total and other Greek yogurts that fall into the <4 carb category! Thank you for the information!
Is *YACON* keto? http://www.superlife.com/what-is-yacon-root/ please give me the answer, it has lots of properties (it’s consumption is recommended for diabetics) and as far as I know it doesn’t have such an impact on blood sugar despite being very sweet and delicious.
Hello to everyone! .i want to say tha this yogurt from faye its 100% greek. In europe and I supposed to u.s.a also, in the market have other yogurts which are say "greek’ but aren’t. Also it happens in feta cheese.sorry for my english…have a nice keto diet 😉
Hi Ginger. I love Fage Greek yogurt and some others full fat of Course! But one thing I have noticed is here in the US the carb count is about 9 gr of carbs our labels are so different than in the UK. What confuses me is our labels never or rarely list per 100 so I don’t quite understand the carb count per serving according to our labels compared to yours
Try alpro soya yoghurt. The carbs are even lower than fage! I use my protein flavour drops and double cream and dried shredded coconut to make it really creamy and yummy 😋
No luck where I live which is a very small town in the South. I checked w almarts and Kroger ,,,so still no Greek yogurt for me right now. I will check other places when I can…
Hi Ginger. I normally use coconut milk. Sometime I don’t have any and I still need some milk. How can I make 1 cup of milk with heavy whipping cream and water? The ratio I mean. Hope you can help.
I will have to check and see what I can find. I looked when I first started keto but did not find one low enough in carbs with no sugar. But I’ll surely check again! Thanks Ginger!
Dairy….. one of my struggles! I want to eat it but others have scared me away. Do you think dairy causes mucus in the body and what are your thoughts on grass fed/organic produce & meat? Thanks, love ya 🌞💋💋
I have a suggestion to anyone who is looking for real yogurt try Bulgarian yogurt it is the real one and the best one. If you can find it give it a try it, it is undoubtedly the best and the healthiest of all dairy products that are available to consumers nowadays.
There are Non-Dairy Options as well which are even lower in carbs.
ALPRO now makes an unsweetened soya yogurt that has supposedly ZERO carbs according to the label
PROVAMEL makes yogurt with Soya Milk (0.5g carbs per 100g), Almond Milk (0.4g carbs per 100g) and Coconut Milk (0.6g Carbs per 100g)
Unfortunately Coyo has changed their recipe, they used to be .5g carbs but they started adding sugar so they’re no longer keto friendly.

Sweeteners are bad for us !

Straining the whey out of yogurt cuts the carbs by half or so. Look up ‘yogurt cheese’ vs. yogurt.
Omg I am craving yogurt so glad I can have some.xx
I love the keto method! But when i add greek yoghurt i allways over eat, i just find it so good, so sometimes i choose to just not buy it.
What about quorn?

How come Greek yogurt is ok because it’s made with whole milk, which we aren’t supposed to have, I’m confused!
Great! I’ve been eating Greek yogurt with chia seeds and cinnamon!

Greek yogurt are very expensive. So no yogurt for me :((
Thanks
I wonder if the cream cheese is a UK thing, the carb count actually went down here in the US – (about a year ago)
