Recently we bought the Oxo Good Grips produce saver boxes for the fridge. Prep loads of veg for the week and they don’t go soft or go off and there is always raw veg to snack on or ready to cook with so no excuses that we are too tired to prep after a day at work. Also the same boxes with fruits and berries washed and ready to eat. It makes it easy for the kids when they open the fridge looking to snack to make good healthy choices.
This is great content! This is the kind of practical inspiration we need more often. Right on so many points. In particular, it resonated with me that food tastes better when you are actually hungry. If it’s "meal time" and you’re not really feeling you have an appetite, hold off. It’s also why I like doing some moderate fasting; helps me appreciate the food I eat and to eat for health, not for recreation.
Watching your chanel makes being a vegan so much easier for me! Thankyou so much for all your videos, super cool! My motivation for eating veggies is that I can eat as much as a want haha ๐
I really like making curries and stews because its easy to throw different veggies in there and every morning I make a fruit smoothie with soy milk. ๐
Love the ideas! At home when I don’t have time (or when I’m lazy) I go for smoothies! I throw everything in there – carrot, apple, banana, spinach, oats, chia seed, orange juice or plant based milk! ๐
A tip I once heard on eating getting you to eat more fruit is to prep it before hand. Like slicing up a few apples and oranges. It helps make it feel more convenient.
Going through cancer treatments for the past 8 months, I have eaten mostly fruit and vegetables, as many things tasted of nothing due to the chemotherapy drugs. I add onions and garlic to every type of savoury food, and lived on soups of veggies and lentils when nothing else tasted good! All summer, bowls of nectarines and blueberries and stewed eating apples with their skins on with fresh ginger, drinking lemon and fresh ginger tea. Here’s to fruit and veg!
I recently slid off the bandwagon, but am getting myself back on again by watching more of these encouraging videos …thanks, guys! The seasons are slowly changing here in the US, so I’m looking forward to more hearty veg meals coming soon. ๐
This video was really helpful. I’m planning on trying to get 5+ fruit and veg into me each day this week, as plant-based diet doctors say that the current five a day is actually too low!! I have IBS that’s triggered by too much fruit and dried fruits, so it’ll definitely be veg heavy but I do want to increase my intake of fruit as well. Currently can’t eat it daily, but hoping to train my intestines to accept this! I’ve been Vegan for a year and has done wonders for my IBS.
You dudes are absolute plant based legends. Favourite recipe videos online and hands down biggest role models for successful community building. Thanks for the tips and all your hard work!
Finely chopping up a bunch of colourful veggies I have on hand, adding pumpkin seeds and scoops of hummus and salsa, and stirring that all up for lunch in a big mixing bowl . Pretty to look at, delicious and nutritious! <3
You guys are really good plant based influencers! Keep it up! Btw please make more videos on veganized Filipino food! Im a vegan Filipino and i miss eating traditional foods like Longonisa, Adobo, minudo, bbq, pinakbet, and aros caldo and more! Thanks a lot guys and again you guys are awesome! ๐๐
And also – if you are struggling with the veggies, stop going full veggie!!! A massive soggy aubergine topped with some pathetic lettuce leaves isn’t going to please anyone – so make it fun, make it colourful, incorporate veg into your meals instead of plonking them on the side, make use of all the amazing herbs and spices on offer, learn the basics of the 6 flavours and how to compliment them… Go for it
If you’re worried about fruit affecting your teeth: 1) drink more water to help neutraluze the pH in your mouth after eating fruit and 2) DO NOT brush immediately after eating fruit. Your enamel’s been weakened by the acidic environment, give yourself ~30 min after eating/drinking something acidic for your mouth to stabilize pH again before you brush.
I eat 3 meals a day and try not to eat anything in between. And when something then some vegetable or fruit. My meal is roughly 1/2 vegetables, 1/4 carbs and 1/4 proteins. I have to minimise simple sugars which means no sweetened drinks, no sugar, but also no orange juice. And just about two handfuls of fruit daily.ย But basically I eat all I like, just not all the time, only like a treat. ATM that’s ice-cream.
Eat a potato, because it’s a potato, not because it’s smothered in animal-based butter and sour cream. I love plain potatoes right out of the oven or the steamer. Doctoring them with non animal-based products is nice to however just plain is fine with me. Mommy Tang actually talked about this at one point.
I hate the fact that you make money from the dairy and egg industries. When is the Happy Pear going to go vegan? The fact that you are businessmen first and vegans second surely has to end at some point. When are you (if ever) intending to go vegan. (At the moment you are NOT vegan because you make money from killing calves and chickens).
Hey dudes, could you talk a bit about buying/eating organic fruit and veg? I’ve been finding it difficult as it’s harder to get a hold of and often wrapped in plastic packaging, unlike regular loose fruit (which baffles me).
I have IBS supposed so I did some veggie gassy and irritate my tummy..plus have to watch carbs diabetes and I am.overweiggt. also too much fruit is I am diabetes and have to be careful.
Thought I had heard it all but you guys have come up with some excellent tips some of which I have not considered before so thank you. Excellent tips indeed
Great video. I have always loved my fruit and veggies. Just can’t get used to the taste of artichokes but any other veggie no worries. Regards from Australia ๐จ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ฝ๐๐
I just went to our local farmers market for the first time and it was so much fresher tastier and cheaper than supermarkets so this is my tip – go to your local farmers market and stock up on fresh produce there before buying anything else. Or at least buy fresh produce at the shop before anything else with your grocery budget.
We also do smoothies and now juicing as well and that helps in our household.
This was great and super encouraging! My trick is to eat greens as much as possible. I find that if my focus is on how to incorporate greens into a meal, then the rest of the meal automatically seems to become more veg-heavy. It also crowds out other less healthy foods if you use leafy greens as a base for whatever bowl you’re making or a filler for wraps, etc. Greens for the win!
Love your work and your energy, guys! For lunch I always prepare a (whole meal) wrap with homemade humus, avocado (with some salt, black pepper and garlic powder) and any kind of lettuce or spinach and for the extra flavor I add pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, and sundried tomatoes – ๐ making all my colleagues jealous …. I feel so healthy and happy eating this!
I find overnight oats is always a good way to increase the fruit intake, just plonk what you have in it. Apples, sultanas, bananas. The list is endless. soak them in orange juice instead of milk or yogurt increases it even further.
To eat more fruit and veg… buy more fruit and veg! I find that what I do have at home, I’m more likely to eat… and then I go for the colour thing: If we have a chickpea curry, I look at it and try to add as many other colours (red peppers or tomatoes, orange peppers or carrots, broccoli or spinach…) as I can find. So tasty, too.
I’m loving dips at the minute – using Apple as a scoop for your date caramel, or celery and carrot for hummus. Another great way for kids, that let’s be real still gets me excited, is going to the market and choosing something new and unusual
Youโre the best!! Great video!! I keep fresh fruits and veggies out where I can see them and plenty of frozen ones in standby! Keep up the community building because you inspire so many!! โ๐ปโค๏ธ๐๐ป๐ฑ๐ค๐ป
In the fall and winter season stews are the best way to eat more veg! and in Romania we have loads of ciorba types [which are basically soups but richer], if you try to make a vegan/vegetarian version of any ciorba you’ll get a lot of vegies from one scoup!

I like to make a big batch of veggie soup for the week and have a cup each day with lunch.

I cooked down a mess of greens so it’d be easier to get in
Most of the world has vegetables for breakfast and are healthier than the countryโs that donโt. I have been trying to do this myself.
A tip I once heard on eating getting you to eat more fruit is to prep it before hand. Like slicing up a few apples and oranges. It helps make it feel more convenient.

Whenever I feel like I’m lacking on veg making soups does the trick, especially in the more wintery weather. Also houmous is great for veggie snacking

Just run right through you ๐๐๐
๐๐๐I put veg in my pasta sauce and grate them on salads. I love fruit and salad but like you sat veg is harder to love lol
