I was not surprised when you said dark chocolate I frequently will have 1 square of Lindt which is my favorite brand. The darker the better so I routinely will eat 85% cocoa it’s not palatable for everybody but it is for me and it’s a perfect snack that takes the edge off my craving for something sweet and because it is not sweet you won’t overeat it lol
US pizza lovers…. I’m guessing it’s because keto is gaining market momentum, but a lot of food prep companies are figuring out ways to craft cauliflower into thin bread/crusts of sorts. For example, Costco has their Signature cauliflower thin crust pizzas in the freezer section. They have the works on them, "supreme" style. For a special meal you can stuff yourself and get near zero carbs. I see more near zero cauliflower crackers, chips etc every time we go there. (ie 16 crackers = 1 carb) Nothing is ever free or easy, and our downside is that they can’t get past using more-salt-than-we-want/need to hold crust/crackers together. The fix is take a nice hit of potassium vitamin after the new cauliflower event. I hang around in light ketosis, and real pizzas used to crash and burn my low-carb state for days, if not a week or so. Good Luck to us all.
These are good tips for snacks, but let’s be honest. When you say snack most people are trying to fill a sugar craving that is low carb and delicious at the same time. We eat those foods you named on a regular basis anyway.
The best thing that has ever happened to me, is Diet Doctor! I am a DD member.
Also, I really appreciate the information here on the fractions of carbs. For those of us counting net carbs, the percentages below one whole gram really matter, because they add up. I have not found this information anywhere, except for on DD. 🙂
why cold cuts? dont they contain preservatives that are harmful in the long term? and I thought fruits like bananas, guava, watermelon and dragon fruit are ok.
Hi
I find a short celery stick filled with my homemade unsweetened and salt free peanut butter is the greatest snack! Shalom to us only in Christ Yeshua
Not sure what source you use for carb counts, and if you’re using net carbs or total carbs (without subtracting fiber) but you seem to be a little high on many things you’ve mentioned.
Since I’m an Google expert by now, the best snack is lemon water…just drink loads of it and it will fill you up and take cravings away with almost 0 calorie/carbs. 😌💪
Hay Beavis, stop waving your hands all over the place like some kind of orchestra leader. You look like a guru transylvania zombie cult leader when you begin with the hands waving bull shit.
With a Ninja Creami you can very easily make low carb sorbets and even ice cream that is delicious. You can easily make delicious sorbet out of nothing but fruit, or add a small amount of Greek yogurt or Nutpods creamer for sherbet. With the Creami YOU control what goes into your ice cream. I use Nutpods and sometimes with milk and add less than half the sugar the recipe calls for. Yes, you still have to control your portions but it is a wonderful way to have delicious treats and still maintain your low carb diet;
That list pretty much summarizes my whole diet these days. I don’t eat cold cuts, but I adore bacon and other fatty meats. Lost 100 lbs. in just under 9.5 months.
Best. Don’t snack. Much easier and your body will " eat" it’s own fat. Cocoa , almond milk, little cream, vanilla, cinnamon , stevia and scant pink salt. Yum 😋
I’ve been doing what I call dirty keto (not following stricter rules) for about three weeks. I’m down a size in clothing already. I’m watching keto recipes online and making them, making keto snacks etc, but not counting anything as far as daily carb count goes. Just making healthier food choices and eating low carb options of everything. Beware of “keto” marketing ploys on store bought things. They only count some “net” carbs on the front packaging so you have to look on the back and read the actual “total” carb count because that’s what you’re really getting per serving. It’s basically a scam, most are as full of carbs as anything else! You basically have to read the back of everything at the store and find the lowest total carb option on each product that you purchase. I make my own jerky in a special dehydrator that gets it up to a safe temperature. It’s not hard to do and you get a bunch for the money. Also I sometimes make it out of pork instead, you can barely tell a difference once it’s in dried jerky form and it’s a fraction of the cost of beef right now. (Thanks Covid and the greedy corporations who love to kick us while we are down). I’m not getting much exercise right now due to winter and living in a small town that has no gym. So keto is working on its own power with little help from me. I’m never starving, eating meat and fats keep you full for far longer than carbs that burn off fast leaving you hungry and wanting more in no time. I’ve always been an over eater, but yesterday I made it on just one meal because I honestly wasn’t hungry until supper time. That would have been utterly unheard of for me previously before stating keto. I ate every meal and was always hungry. I’ve come to realize that sugar and carbs are like a self fulfilling prophecy that keeps perpetuating itself forever as long as you consume them. You always want more and more and more forever until one day you wake up fat, unhealthy, tired, and miserable from eating yourself into an early grave. Keto is the first diet that made me feel like I wasn’t being deprived after I got used to saying “no” to myself on sweets and switching to artificial sweetener. I finally found one that I could stand. We often eat a whipped cream (small) berry and cream layered parfait cup with our dinner to sooth those sweet cravings. It is completely sweetened with Splenda from the fruit to the whipped cream and everyone in the family loves eating these. It’s not a large dish at all, so we get away with it and still lose weight. Everyone has been loving these new recipes and everyone gets full on this diet and stays that way for quite awhile. YouTube is full of good keto channels that do recipes and they ARE working for me. I’ve never been this happy on a diet before or had such easy success that required so little effort to achieve. It’s now a full time lifestyle change for us, we’re doing this forever. Only shop the outside edge of the supermarket and stay out of the middle as much as you can. Buy meat, dairy, veggies etc. Mostly simple whole one ingredient foods -back to basics before everything was a prepackaged nightmare of unhealthy multiple ingredients that make you gain a ton of weight over time.
IMO this is the path to obesity. Hunger is how your body tells you to start look for food, not to eat right this second. Look at a pride of lions. They lay around sleeping, napping until the pride starts to stir. What triggers that? Hunger imo. Slowly they start looking for prey. Could be hours, even days, and a lot of exercise before they actually eat.
Many low carb dieters will talk about fasting. When you feel hungry you can wait a few minutes and the feeling passes. That backs up my point. The longer you go without eating the hunger feelings last longer and get more intense. Unfortunately we only have one term for this entire scale of hunger.
When I give in and find all these yummy snacks guess what happens? I right back to obsessing about food. I crave it more. Of course, because it’s yummy. I don’t eat macadamia nuts because…they’re freaking yummy as hell. I eat too many and I become addicted.
Better imo to get addicted to the feeling of hunger. Yeah, that’s right, to enjoy the feeling of hunger. To enjoy the lightness. Your brain’s mission is to get you moving to go hunt down some food. It uses a carrot and stick. The stick is hunger feelings. The carrot is to produce good feeling chemicals as you walk around looking for food. When I’m hungry I walk 5-6 miles. Hunger goes away completely as I walk and I feel great. And that lasts a couple more hours after the walk.
If you make a decision for low carb. Then you would know about insulin. More meal, then more insulin. Want to lose weight, living a healthy life style, Go with the best. NO SNACK. doing 8/16 or 6/18. I have been doing 8/16. Feeling good. TMAD is very ez to do.
Celery stick with vegetable flavored cream cheese is awesome!
His voice makes me hungry. He sounds like he’s eating avocados and eggs and nuts all the time.

I was eating pork grinds.. but I was getting tired of them.
I gotta find other snacks for balance snacking.
Thanks for the video

Can we fully trust the grams/100g values listed on packets & containers ?! Do we blindly accept such figures without exception ? 😐
My go to when I want crunch is pork rinds. I’d do jerky, but I’d have to make it myself to keep sugar and cost down.
why cold cuts? dont they contain preservatives that are harmful in the long term? and I thought fruits like bananas, guava, watermelon and dragon fruit are ok.
What about peanuts?
You forgot Dill pickles. Very low carb. No dip required. Yeah, yeah, a little bit of salt. So what? We’re talking carbs.
Thank you for sharing doc
Carbs are the body’Fuel, they convert to sugar, there are two types, Low Gi and High Gi,it is the LOW GI you should eat most of,eggs are protein
He sounds like a super villain😂😂😂

Celery is one of my go-to snacks in between meals if I get hungry.

Macadamia nutbutter a God send for me. Tick all my boxes
Dried meat
Love Thy neighbor as Jesus commands
if you are going to eat bread – I was told sourdough is the best?
great.
I notice that you didn’t include peanuts – Surprising given that they contaoin between 25-30% protein.

Please tell me where I can find an 8" = 20 cm diameter orange!
Sardines or kippers in a can. Eggs are my go to. Pecans are wonderful, but I know I’ll eat too much. Cheese, again, I’ll eat too much.
