I have this fear that if I don’t make my pancreas work once in awhile, and if I down the road had a baked potato, would my pancreas fail me and not produce enough insulin because it is so used to having such a slack job now that I don’t eat carbs? Once a week I will have one piece of bread or a bit of rice just to keep my the beta cells in my pancreas on their toes. Please reassure me that I don’t need to do this

Yeah I already do that within my meal time. I may wait 30mins-1 hour after eating a meal, but then I do OMAD most days. Often it’s just to get my cals up or if I want something sweet or crunchy. Most of the time it’s nuts.
When u chew a gum u have saliva which is a digestive enzyme, right? and a proses of swallowing which probably triggers digestive hormones and insulin as well?
Is beef jerky that bad…. Thomas delauer said that’s one of his keto snacks but its important to get good ones… guess I’ll stick to mainly nuts for snacks like Cashews
These ‘snacks’ can be useful in lieu of one’s "lunch" (probably breakfast, literally) at work or school, i.e. ‘meal replacement’ to tide one over until they get home for a real (more substantive) Keto meal.
sorry I disagree. Many who start keto have type 2 or have some sort of blood sugar dysregulation, and will experience hypoglycemic symptoms as their blood sugar drops b4 their insulin. THAT is when they need to bombard their bodies with fats and proteins to train their bodies in utilizing this new source of fuel. They just won’t feel well so intermittent fasting is NOT for these people right away! IF and KETO is not a one size fits all. There are many different protocols AND precautions as to not damage the adrenals and thyroid….. I am speaking of personal experience and experience in helping many other people recover. Good day!
Ok but what if you have a craving and just need a snack (a keto one that is)? Is a homemade keto snack really that bad if it keeps you on track with your diet? Is it really necessary to be this strict?
I’m a sugar addict. I absolutely love all things chocolate and desserts. Still, I decided let’s try this keto thing. Well, at first I had many cheat days so I wasn’t seeing much results and then I decided to stick with it. But, but, since I crave sweets so much I came across the videos of fat bombs and I decided to try them. I actually like them and only took a few pieces throughout the day. Then I cut that down to smaller pieces when we’re watching a movie after dinner. Now, I only eat them occasionally if I get that urge. And even though I’ve been eating fat bombs I have still lost 7 lbs and counting in the three weeks I’ve been consistent with keto. My main concern is that I run between 5k-10 miles. And I need carbs. I’ve read that for shorter distances I don’t really need them. And although I’ve done fine with 5ks, I’m not feeling that energy boost I thought I would have. Also read that in order to use the fat as fuel I would have to run longer distances as this process takes time. And so by the time I’m done with the 5k that’s not enough time to use the fat for energy. However, I’m not feeling the same without the carbs for my running. Some people even say this is dangerous. I was thinking of sticking with keto and just consuming carbs a couple of hours before my run. But it will take me out of ketosis, right?
Please advice as to what you recommend? Or if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks in advance.
