    I have cut red meat and I don’t eat shellfish or organ meat I don’t eat or drink juice or high fructose drinks no soda ever. When I cut read meat for about 6 months or so and I still had flares. I don’t drink alcohol. I always drink lots of water. I eat only fruits like blueberries blackberries and strawberries raspberries. I cut out asparagus, spinach and tomatoes because they are inflammatory. I’m a basket case I guess.

    Stopping red meat is bunk. My own research has show that a chicken breast has half again to twice as much purine as a good lean steak.
    Do your own due diligence. Believe no on~ ESPECIALLY a doctor under the age of 30….😎

    I have severe gout. What I’ve learned over the years is to stay away from carbohydrates. You can eat all the meat you want as long as you stay away from carbs. They discovered that meat increases uric acid levels when the person eats carbs. Meat with no carbs does not increase uric acid levels. I should know, I only eat meat. My main meat is fish,prawn srhimp and crab. I live in Vancouver Canada and I love fishing. Since I’m only eating meat I never have any problems with gout.

    Eat red meat only once a week and seafood once a week. Dont eat too much candy and cakes and other sweets.

    Ive been battling this for 3 months. It kept popping up in a new joint about once a week for the whole 3 months. It happened a year or so ago, but I did not realize what it was. Just felt like a random toe sprain I guess, though extremely painful.. My diet had been loaded with the wrong things, in high quantities for a long time. decades. I’m 36. in these past three months, Every time a new joint popped up, it wasn’t quite as bad as the one before. and I think it’s because I have been getting my uric acid levels down with good diet. But on the last week it went to my elbow and it was terrible. I saw a video saying to stop ALL sugars. Added sugars, natural sugars ALL OF IT. as much as possible atleast. Maybe around 20 grams natural sugar per day may be ok. Not in one meal. NO FRUIT. NONE. I even stay away from vegetables that are higher than 3 grams per 100. Also I saw a video saying stop grains. Like whole grains. Also try to stay away from vinegar. When I tried this, it seems to have stopped. It may be a culmination of everything I’ve been doing the last couple months though. But it definately has stopped for a week for the first time in 3 months right when I did that. It seems to be a lot more about what you shouldn’t put in your body than what you should. Portion control. Calorie count if it helps. Stay hydrated. Don’t crash diet and don’t eat big meals, to avoid spiking, triggering. Joint friendly Excersize regimen once able. Eat lots of vegetables. Eggs are good. Nuts are good. Olive oil about 2 tbspns per day good. Beans ok. Fat free/reduced dairy ok. Some meats like white chicken may be ok but I think why risk it. I stay away from things with ingredient labels with a lot of stuff I can’t pronounce in it. If there is something I’m not quite sure about I use in moderation. I just do eggs nuts beans and dairy for protein for now. Until uric acid levels go down and then work stuff like grains, lean meats/fish/seafood, and fruit back into your diet. It helps that I am good at cooking, both of my parents being chefs. ( Which is probably part of the original problem. In Louisiana nontheless) Almond flour is great. Between that, riced cauliflower, eggs, olive oil and fat free cheese, I can make those vegetables taste pretty good. Always with a fresh salad with each meal. Gout is the personal trainer that I needed. That guy don’t play around. When he says drop the cheesecake, you better do it or sleep with one eye open. He will attack you in your sleep. He’s dedicated to making you change. You will thank him later. Lol. For some people, it’s just genetics. For most people, it seems to be poor diet, gluttony, alcoholism. I have never had a good diet for 3 months in my life until now.

    Alcohol has no uric acid itself. The danger here is dehydration which triggers fructose metabolicsm causing more uric acid. So if you want to have a drink stay hydrated.

    Back in September 2021 I watched The Game Changers on Netflix and then read The China Study. I decided to stop eating all meats and eat a vegetarian diet. I have yet to have an attack in the 6 months since and attribute this to abstaining from all meats

  19. I haven’t eaten meat (none) for 30 days. I eat whole food plant based & just discovered I have high uric acid & sed rate. I do not drink pop at all. I have never eaten organ meats. I am 53 year old female. How do I have gout ?!? I do drink coffee with honey.

    If you consume lemon, or cranberry, while eating a meal, would the lemon juice neutralize the purines from the high risk foods on your list?

  21. I am 5 10 175 lbs and work out 5 times a week. I removed everything from my lifestyle that is said to increase uric acid and trigger gout. I test my uric acid weekly and it is steady at 5.5. Yet I got a massive gout attack on my knee that lasted the past 3 weeks. I believe certain foods can trigger a gout attack. For me it seems to be peanuts and peanut butter. Your mileage may vary.

    I’ve had gout for twenty years following a “healthy” diet turns out to be bollocks … I’ve simply have removed sugars and particularly fructose eg fruits
    I now eat fish including shellfish meat plenty of it especially red meat stay away from carbs …I no longer need meditating so honestly this advice from JJ Medicine is old out of date

    the people i know who have gout all drink alcohol. all are slim and eat no junk food, but eat fruit, some vegetables and sugar products. it has since been refuted that gout was also caused by eating red meat – see people in the carnivore diet. none of them have gout

    What I understand is people who have uric acid a mostly foodies and they find it hard to give up what causes it from the beginning….if you have high uric acid please stop eating cooked meals go raw vegan you’ll be healed in one week

    I did all this for YEARS, did it religiously, watched everything I ate, I didn’t vary from this plan at all, and got gout anyway. There’s not a thing you can do about it, except suffer three to five days now and then with an episode of gout. It’s hereditary more than anything.
