I’m a little concerned about the promotion of foods like chia seeds, avocados, and canned meats in oils (even if it’s olive oil), so soon after having bariatric surgery. The nutritional guidebook given to me (before AND after, they have me 2 for some odd reason) stresses avoiding any foods with seeds, as they can be difficult to digest and also can become lodged in any crevices still healing in your newly formed stomach pouch. And avocados & canned in oil meats can add too much fat into the diet and cause dumping syndrome; believe me, I was experiencing it even BEFORE my surgery on May 3rd, this year, and it’s NOT a fun way to spend an hour of your time… stuck on a toilet because your innards want to become "outards."..
It’s a lie that mashed cauliflower tastes like mashed potatoes!!! Cauliflower pancakes do not taste like a real pancakes. Pie crust made from cauliflower is not the same as real pie crust. Riced cauliflower is not going to taste like actual rice. It’s all a very rude trick!!!
I think we should just admit it is different. Then we can adapt our taste buds to it. I’d rather just pick different foods rather than ‘trick’ foods.
I am post op sleeve vsg post op 6 years I lost a 166 pounds I have kept it off I am age 63 I am 5"2 . Best thing I ever done for my self and my health.
There’s so much misinformation here.. my surgeon literally said no vegetables like cauliflower or broccoli this soon because it makes gas (gas expands) and he suggested mashed potatoes (made loose)… and why cant you say potatoes? Also NO SEEDS! What are you telling people?? Chia seeds can get stuck in your sutures..
I see a lot of recipes using cottage cheese. I can’t get past the texture of it, could I substitute ricotta cheese or is it too high in fat. I have not had my surgery but just starting the process. I am doing as much research as I can. I have already started weaning myself off caffeine and carbonated drinks.
I am 1 month post op and I don’t like anything my taste bud are so different. I don’t like any thing that is on my list of purée I am getting better with my water intake and my protein powder. Thanks for the recipe ideas. ❤️🙏🏾
I am interested in the post operative success notebook you mentioned. Sounds interesting. I did get some information for after my surgery from my nutritionist, but a notebook that is all put together sounds great. How might I get one?
My doctor listed mashed potatoes under soft foods. This reminds me of my job, no consistency. Lol. I have seen some people who considered tuna and salmon as soft food’s.
I’m a VSG patient and I will be starting my stage two with purée food in two more days and it will be 1 month fully!!so I been on liquids since November 5th!! Yay eggs 🥚
Great advice thxu

Why does she say potatoes like that
You should go to Woo&Pep diet website. You can find there the best diet instructions I think.
Mashed potatoes mashed potatoes there’s nothing wrong with mashed potatoes once in awhile
